Our Aims

  • To increase awareness of the developing riverside and the associated activities.
  • To encourage volunteers from local communities to become involved.
  • To undertake extensive consultation with the local community in developing our programme and resources.
  • To develop educational materials to encourage the use of the river as an educational resource.

Our Activities

Environment Months
Every year we participate in the Councils Environment Weeks Programme. We provide talks and guided walks along the riverside. More information available from the website www.environmentweeks.co.uk

Down by the Riverside Open Day
We host a free Annual event at Kelham Island Museum every September to publicise our work and that of other local environmental organisations with an interest in and a commitment to the river. More details in News and Info.

Summer and Winter Partners Meetings
Twice a year we host meetings for anyone (individuals and groups) with an interest in the river and its environs.

There is always an invited speaker who talks on a relevant subject, and an opportunity for networking and information sharing. These meetings provide an ideal opportunity for you ti find out what’s happening and let everyone know you rnews too.

  • Postcards – a series of 8 postcards showing scenes along the Upper Don.

Information stalls, walks and talks
